From March 31st 2025 it has now become a legal requirement for  every workplace in England, from offices and schools to hospitals and hospitality venues with over 10 employees to separate food waste, dry recyclables, and black general waste.

Known as the simpler recycling legislation, these new recycling rules aim to reduce contamination, improve recycling rates, and bring consistency to waste management across the UK.
